Ciclista brasileiro brilha na Itália e vira esperança de pódio no Pan de 2011

Em Padova há três anos, Rafael Andriato é um dos favoritos à conquista do título do Tour do Rio

Aos 10 anos de idade, Rafael Andriato ganhou um presente de seu pai. Uma bicicleta “nada top”, como descreveu, somente de ferro, sem nenhuma marcha. Naquele momento, ele não sabia, mas nascia ali sua paixão pelo ciclismo. Treze temporadas depois, o atleta de São Paulo é um dos principais representantes da equipe italiana de Trevigiani e chega para o Tour do Rio como um dos favoritos ao título.

- Meu pai sempre foi ciclista. Comecei bem cedo, mas não era nada sério. Na minha primeira corrida, aos 12 anos, tirei segundo lugar contra meninos de dois a quatro anos mais velhos que eu. Aí, já me empolguei. Naquele mesmo ano, também fui campeão paranaense júnior. O que era divertimento até então, virou coisa séria e a minha maior paixão – contou o ciclista.

Campeão brasileiro juvenil aos 15 anos, Andriato ainda passou por Maringá e Santos antes de chegar a Padova. Foi em 2007 que o jovem atleta recebeu o convite do ídolo Luciano Pagliarini para embarcar para a Europa e fazer parte de seu projeto de revelações do ciclismo.

- Ele foi um irmão mais velho para mim. Quando cheguei na Itália, não falava a língua, não conhecia a cultura e morria de frio. Logo no quinto dia, tive de treinar com menos dois graus de temperatura. Pensei em desistir. Mas persisti e tive apoio total do Luciano, que morava a poucos metros da casa de base da nossa equipe – disse Andriato.

Na Trevigiani, o ciclista ainda busca o sonho de se tornar profissional, já que ainda está na categoria de base do esporte, que tem atletas de 19 a 26 anos. Para isso, ele já somou três vitórias em provas de 2008 e mais duas no ano seguinte. Nesta temporada, conquistou apenas um título, mas avalia sua evolução na equipe como bastante positiva e não pensa em voltar ao Brasil.

- Já estou me sentindo quase um italiano. Gosto de tudo daqui, estou totalmente adaptado. Viver de esporte no Brasil é muito complicado. Não tem uma estrutura tão boa, os salários ainda são baixos. Um campeão olímpico chega a ganhar até um milhão de euros por ano (R$ 2,3 milhões) e um profissional de alto nível uns 100 mil euros (R$ 230 mil), o que já seria ótimo. Eu não chegaria a isso aqui – concluiu.

Ciclista sonha com medalha no Pan

Há três anos na Itália, Andriato já até conseguiu acabar com as brincadeiras de implicância dos companheiros de equipe. O ciclista conta que quando chegou teve de explicar o motivo de ter escolhido a bicicleta e não a bola como esporte.

- Eles brincavam que só existia futebol e carnaval no Brasil. Tinha sempre que explicar que eu gostava de futebol, mas não sabia jogar. Meu talento é só no ciclismo mesmo (risos) – disse o atleta.

Já de olho nas Olimpíadas de Londres, Andriato não quer esperar dois anos para conseguir um bom resultado internacional. O ciclista avisa que seu objetivo mais próximo está no Pan de Guadalajara-2011.

- Acho que tenho grandes chances de conquistar uma medalha no Pan. No último, fui 15° colocado, mas era muito jovem ainda. Agora, estou muito melhor. O caminho foi difícil, mas não me arrependo de nada. Faria tudo de novo para chegar onde estou. Meu sonho é sempre representar bem meu país e sei que ainda posso ir muito longe.

Alemães conquistam o tricampeonato
Prova teve 598km em oito etapas

A dupla formada pelos alemães Stefan Sahm e Karl Platt conquistaram o tricampeonato na maratona Transalp. A dupla da equipe Bulls havia vencido em 2007 e 2008 e voltou ao alto do pódio na cidade italiana de Riva del Garda, após largarem a última etapa em Madonna di Campiglio.

Os alemães marcaram o tempo total de 26h07min03s e percorreram um total de 598 quilômetros com 19.685 metros de ascensão acumulada. A corrida começou no sábado, dia 17, na cidade de Fussen, na Alemanha.

Os tricampeões da equipe Bulls celebraram a vitória com um longo ganho de champanhe.

Os vencedores da última etapa, com 75 km e 1.770 metros de ascensão, foi a dupla formada pelos italianos Massimo De Bertolis e Mike Felderer, da equipe Team Full-Dynamix com o tempo de 2h54min35s. Os italianos acabaram na terceira colocação geral da prova.

Na segunda colocação geral ficou o alemão Hannes Genze e o suíço Andreas Kugler, da equipe Multivan Merida.

A vitória no feminino ficou com as irmãs dinamarquesas Kristine e Anna-Sofie Norgaard, que terminaram a prova invictas. A dupla da equipe Rothaus-Cube marcou o tempo total de 32h52min56s. A segunda colocação foi para a dupla alemã Natascha Binder e Bettina Dietzen.

Italiano vence em Angra dos Reis
Renato Santos é o melhor brasileiro

A Costa Verde Fluminense recebeu com muito sol e entusiasmo a passagem da primeira etapa do Tour do Rio, que percorrerá 783 km pelas estradas do Estado.

O pelotão de 115 atletas de 18 equipes foi saudado pela população da Barra a Angra dos Reis, que foi às ruas ver a passagem do pelotão.

No final dos 156 km, a vitória foi do italiano Tomas Alberio (Trevigiani Dynamon Bottoli), seguido pelo norte-americano Chris Jones (Team Type 1) e pelo paranaense Renato Aparecido dos Santos “Centenário”, do Clube Dataro de Ciclismo, de Curitiba. Todos os três cruzaram a meta com o mesmo tempo de 3h23min11s.

“Foi um percurso difícil. Gostei muito da experiência de correr no Rio. Espero poder voltar para a Itália com esta camisa amarela”, disse o campeão Tomas Alberio.

Os atletas largaram às 9h15 da Praça do Ó, na Barra da Tijuca, e o pelotão percorreu os primeiros 10 km neutralizado.

A largada oficial foi no caminho para a Grota Funda, onde as primeiras subidas já afastaram um pouco os ciclistas. No fim da Avenida Brasil foi montada a primeira Meta Volante e, na Rodovia Rio-Santos, a segunda. Foram elas que definiram o melhor velocista do dia.

O melhor velocista da etapa foi Chris Jones, que assumiu a camisa verde. Já Lucas Onesco (São Lucas/Giant/Cicloravena/Americana) foi o melhor ciclista de montanha e alinha para a segunda etapa com a camisa branca com bolas amarelas. O líder Tomas Alberio vestirá a camisa amarela.

Integrante do time americano formado em sua maioria por portadores de diabetes tipo 1 (que precisam de doses diárias de insulina), Chris Jones também era só elogios:

“Não sabia o que esperar de uma prova aqui pois é nossa primeira vez na América do Sul. Estou bastante bem impressionado com o nível técnico e com a organização do Tour do Rio”, disse Jones, que não sofre de diabetes. “Foi uma prova com paisagens muito bonitas”, avaliou.

Representante brasileiro no pódio da etapa, Renato Aparecido dos Santos, o Centenário, comentou sobre o percurso.

“Essa etapa privilegiou o ciclista mais completo, não apenas o melhor velocista nem o melhor montanhista”, disse o brasileiro. “Sofremos muito com o calor também”, acrescentou.

Nesta quinta-feira, a partida será às 10 horas da Praça da Prefeitura, em Volta Redonda, e o pelotão terá pela frente um trecho de cerca de 160 km até a cidade de Três Rios.
